The Wolf at the Door

The wolf as both live animal and poetic symbol for the dangers in the world.

Ever since the wolf was at the front door,
we’ve build our lives with bricks,
built houses of stacked stone to hold
back the raging torrent of cold wind,
and went about as if the stones were lead,
impossible to lift, yet we had set them down
without mortar to brace and bare against
the painful weight of entropy and time.

Spoken Word Version of the poem – The Wold at the Door

Apparently, I am writing poetry that focused on metaphor today.
